Do you also love coming home from work in the winter? Even though it's cold outside, you feel peace and warmth in your heart, because you know that in a moment you'll enter a warm apartment and hide under a blanket. And an even better option is a hot bath and... SIUUUP into bed! But for everything to go according to plan, it's worth taking care of the arrangement of a cozy, winter bedroom first. Below you will find a handful of moyh inspirations that will make it easier to relax and love December evenings.
What should (and shouldn’t) a winter bedroom be like?
We are not cats and do not have fur to protect us from the cold, so we have to deal with the cold in other ways. The most effective are textiles that wrap and warm our skin. With the first cold, it is worth tidying up your wardrobe, putting away thin T-shirts and taking out thick woolen sweaters and long socks . An inseparable element of winter interior equipment is also a warm blanket with the addition of natural wool, under which you can hide from the whole world and forget about the blizzard raging outside.
A cozy bedroom with soft, comfortable textiles can become your oasis and an effective way to escape the cold. It's so simple: just curl up in bed with Netflix, a book or a diary, in the company of cozy, wrapping materials and enjoying the long winter afternoons.
A winter bedroom should be: cozy, filled with soft, natural textiles, improving mood, conducive to rest, warm, atmospherically lit. A winter bedroom should be dominated by natural, subdued colors, breathable textiles and accessories that add coziness to the interior, such as flowers and wood.
A winter bedroom should not be: cluttered, filled with loud colors that make it difficult to relax, intensely lit, full of artificial materials, unheated, filled with electronics. Anything that is not conducive to relaxation should be kept outside the bedroom. There is nothing wrong with relaxing with a TV series, but answering work emails and mindlessly scrolling through social media are not good ways to relax.
A bedroom inspired by your desires
When creating the perfect bedroom, there is one basic rule: arrange it in such a way that you feel good in it . You don't have to follow trends from interior design catalogs, although they can be an inspiration. The most important thing is that the arrangement reflects your desires. So you don't have to reach for a fashionable motif this season if you don't like it at all. A much better solution is to focus on timelessness - natural textiles and wood , which never go out of fashion and match every style.
The Danes are the masters of creating cozy interiors (yes, yes, they are responsible for the phenomenon of hygge ). The unpredictable Scandinavian weather means that the Danish people spend a lot of time in their homes, which are decorated in such a way as to contrast with the outside cold and darkness. There is no single recipe for creating an interior in the spirit of hygge , because everyone has their own idea of a bedroom that provides a sense of security and reflects the character of its owner.
As Christina B. Kjeldsen, editor and author of books on Scandinavian interior design and lifestyle, says:
A home that is done “the right way,” where furniture, decorations, and the entire aesthetic follow a pattern or model that is considered appropriate, is rarely hyggelig. In fact, hygge depends on how much honesty there is in the objects you surround yourself with—the layout and decor of your home should reflect the choices you make in your daily life *.
How to create an oasis of coziness in your own bedroom? 4 inspirations
When arranging a winter bedroom, remember that it should be soft, warm and pleasant. How to achieve this effect? Here are some ideas.
Textiles
The bed is your command center of the universe. So make sure it is filled to the brim with cozy textiles. The basis is soft, breathable cotton bedding in anthracite, graphite, navy blue, gray or white melange. What's next? Throws ! By choosing those made of skin-friendly knits and fabrics, you not only decorate the bed and protect the bedding from dust, but also provide yourself with an additional source of warmth. Instead of a throw, you can choose a warm blanket with a high wool content, which brings to mind your favorite sweater. What else can't be missing in the bed? Pillows, of course! Small and large, wool and cotton, sand, caramel, straw, beige, gray, anthracite, navy blue, cinnamon and ash - at moyha you will find the largest selection of soft pillowcases in natural colors.
Light
Natalia Kukulska sang that "you carry them inside you", so trust your intuition and choose lighting for your bedroom that will make you feel cozy and safe. A good idea is to install so-called 3-phase lamps, i.e. central lighting with the function of switching on selected bulbs. Such lamps can be supplemented with spot lighting, opting for small night lamps, cotton balls, soy candles, and even Christmas tree lights.
Carpet, fur, rug
There's nothing worse than cold feet. Brr! Wooden floors are beautiful, so you don't have to cover them all with carpet. You can use a fluffy shaggy rug that you can spread by the bed, or a soft faux fur rug. Also, make sure to bring warm slippers and socks, without which you can't go anywhere in winter!
Christmas accessories
Want to add a touch of Christmas to your bedroom? Go for accessories! If you have the space, you can put a Christmas tree in your bedroom. If not, a potted cypress bush or even an artificial perennial plant that looks like a real tree will be enough. During the holiday season, it's also worth introducing aromatic accessories into the interior, such as candles with the scent of cinnamon, mulled wine, cookies or a Christmas tree. Or maybe you have a favorite snow globe from your childhood or a reindeer figurine given to you by a loved one? Such a gadget fits perfectly into the arrangement in the spirit of hygge , so it's worth placing a Christmas souvenir in a place of honor.
